This role will be a Staff Frontend Engineer who reports directly to the CTO. You will be working on the Core team, helping build out our marketplace and business dashboard.

What does the role look like?

As a Staff Frontend Engineer, your main task is to accurately and efficiently turn product designs into live features. This role is meant for engineers who are product focused and can lead a project. You will be responsible for taking an idea and a Figma all the way through to being live in production. You will be leading projects. This role is for those who desire strong autonomy and product ownership.  As project lead, you will be responsible for these key phases:

1. As the design is being finalized, you will provide effective feedback to the design team to ensure it’s a seamless engineering build.

2. You will plan out the project, break it up into tasks & milestones, and set your own deliverable dates. Prior to building, you will dictate exactly what you need from the backend team to ensure you are not blocked.

3. You will execute and build the project. This includes writing performant, clean code that produces a beautiful product. You will raise the bar for UI & UX standards through impeccable attention to detail. 

4. Throughout the project, you will communicate frequently with all stakeholders, both technical & non technical, to share the status of your project.

5. As you near completion, you will lead the QA charge by running through the product several times and ensuring it is up to standards. 

6. When the project is complete, you will be responsible for releasing the project in a seamless fashion. This includes releasing it slowly, iteratively, and in a controlled manner to avoid production incidents.

7. Post-release, you will be responsible for monitoring the success of your feature, both through error tracking and user analytics. As enhancements arise, you will make them promptly.

Your first 90 days will look like the following:

• Within 30 days, you will make several enhancements to our business dashboard. This will include redesigning our dashboard homepage or allowing sellers to reply to reviews.

• Within 60 days, you will have re-built our seller stats page to be more interactive and beautiful.

• Within 90 days, you will have enhanced our marketplace product page with new ways to showcase products.

You will work on features all across Whop’s platform, most specifically on our marketplace and seller dashboard. This role has unlimited scope and you will lead several projects across all aspects of our frontend.

Who you are

You are addicted to programming and building products – it is your favorite thing in the world. You find yourself getting lost in code for days on end and you won’t stop until you find the perfect solution. Given a weekend with no plans, you find yourself hopping in VS Code before hopping in a bar. 

You have an incredible attention to detail and you won’t settle for low quality work. UX and UI are extremely important to you and you get upset when your users have trouble following your intended flows. You won’t release a feature that is missing loading states, has a poor UX, or doesn’t match the Figma.

You’re fast and urgent. When working, you constantly ask yourself “What’s next?”. You pride yourself on being the fastest developer on the team. You have an incredibly strong work ethic. You will put in the extra hours needed to elevate yourself, your team, and your work. 

Organization & project management is vital to you. You always ensure your tasks are written down and organized so others have visibility into what you’re working on. Your work is punctual and you have deadlines for everything you do. 

Your communication style is proactive and clear, ensuring no details slip through the cracks. Whether it’s flagging potential issues or keeping the team updated, your responsiveness keeps projects moving swiftly. You believe strongly in the push versus pull mentality; you’ll never put yourself in a position where people are asking you for project updates. 

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of development experience

• 5+ years of experience with React

• 3+ years of experience with TypeScript (TS)

• Experience building beautiful web apps
