Vast is looking for a Flight Software Engineer to architect and develop the onboard software systems need to command and control an artificial-gravity commercial space station.
Responsibilities:
- Develop state machine architecture for all station systems and sub-systems
- Work with subject matter experts to code flight software algorithms for various station systems and sub-systems
- Work with subject matter experts to develop and interface with high fidelity physics simulator and with various devices for hardware in the loop simulations
- Develop ground software for command and control, and for telemetry aggregation
- Develop unit and integrated tests, and establish continuous integration framework for flight and ground software
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or similar
- 5+ years of experience coding in C++
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a continuous build and test environment
- Familiarity with Git, Cmake, and GNU tools
- Able to work in a Linux environment
- Experience with Embedded Systems
- Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)
- Fault-tolerant and safety-critical software design
- Experience developing software for complex systems such as spacecraft, aircraft or autonomous vehicles
- Network programming experience
- Experience working with satellite communications or telemetry systems
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters
- Understanding of Linux kernel software and drivers

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
