Vast is looking for a qualified CMM Programmer to join the growing Quality team!

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed inspections of close tolerance parts, in Development, Qualification, and Flight environments using detailed drawings, CAD models, and established processes to verify conformance to design requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T with ability to interpret Engineer Drawings, analyzes CMM outputs to ensure appropriate product development and configurations.

  • Develop CMM programs from engineer drawings, CAD models, operation instructions

  • Analyze lines of code ensuring CMM parameters are properly set.

  • Support dimensional tooling development and assist in the performance of gauge studies.

  • Operate dimensional inspection tools including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and optical comparators.

  • Communicate and help resolve quality related issues as they relate to other company products.

  • Routinely observe technical operations and offer guidance and/or serve as an additional technical resource.

  • Evaluate manufacturing compliance to NASA, range safety, and customer, as well as internal specifications to meet launch and mission requirements.

  • Effectively work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure products meet and/or exceed customer requirements.

  • Read, interpret, and work from free form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes.

  • Independently perform verifications at all levels of manufacturing, and concisely documenting accurate inspection results.

  • Support any Quality Inspection requirements as needed to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of flight-worthy products.

  • Understand, utilize, develop, implement, maintain, and follow quality system procedures, processes, work instructions, guidelines, forms, etc.

  • Proactively supports the ISO process approach to maintaining an effective and efficient quality management system

  • Identify and document product anomalies in accordance with prescribed procedures.

  • Interface with engineering and production to resolve nonconforming material issues.

  • Assist in the development of root cause, corrective, and preventive action plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate is required.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must demonstrate unwavering integrity, and ethical commitment to Quality.

  • Must have 3+ years CMM Programming experience using PC-DMIS software.

  • Must have experience reading and interpreting design drawings and CAD models.

  • Must have experience performing dimensional inspections in the aerospace industry.

  • Must have a methodical approach to the evaluation of complex systems and assemblies

  • Must be able to work effectively in both collaborative and independent environments

  • Must demonstrate a professional and positive attitude, and be highly motivated to identify and contribute to continuous improvement plans and opportunities.

  • Must have experience with Quality Assurance principles, methods, and processes.

  • Must have experience reading and interpreting aerospace standards.

  • Must have experience using calibrated inspection tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Technology or related field.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks requiring a high attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively demonstrate analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Adept at using technology effectively and efficiently to manage workload.

  • Ability to effectively demonstrate strong time management skills to coordinate multiple projects.

  • Intermediate skill-level with Windows operating systems.

  • Intermediate skill-level with Google business applications, ability to create documents, reports and briefing materials in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

  • Experience inspecting 3D printed hardware.

  • Experience assembling and testing manufactured hardware.

  • Experience performing electronic testing and inspections using portable measuring devices.

  • Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, wire harnessing, and surface mounted devices in accordance with NASA and/or IPC standards.

  • Ability to clearly articulate hardware and systems problems in order to initiate resolutions.

  • Substantial knowledge for the control of nonconforming hardware, failure/root cause analysis, corrective, and preventive action processes.

  • Knowledgeable with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems.

  • Experience utilizing ERP software systems for shop floor work instructions and part trace systems

  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, be innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, and team oriented.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid US Passport

  • Must be able to pass a background check and gain access to government facilities.

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, stoop, bend, crawl, and work in tight spaces.
