Senior Director of Strategy

Position Summary:

The Sr. Director of Strategy will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s future by leading the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. This role requires a leader with a strong background in consumer goods, a deep understanding of the Amazon marketplace, and experience in new product development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and revenue strategy. The Sr. Director of Strategy will work closely with Revenue, Supply Chain and Product Engineering teams to drive both organic and inorganic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Development Strategy:

  • Oversee the execution of new product development through the management of the Product Management team.
  • Lead the Product Managers to identify market trends, consumer needs, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Work with key individuals across the organization to ensure ideas from ideation are vetted and prioritized appropriately.
  • Strategically guide the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):

  • Drive the company’s M&A strategy, including target identification, evaluation, and execution.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential acquisition targets leveraging support from the appropriate teams within the organization.
  • Work closely with the CFO and General Counsel to negotiate deal terms and work with the CRO and Head of Supply Chain to integrate acquisitions.

Strategy and Retail Expansion:

  • Partner with the CRO to expand the company’s retail presence.
  • Partner with the CRO developing strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Build relationships with key external buyers and retail partners and partner to maintain those relationships with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities to enhance the company’s competitive position.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor the product management team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including revenue, finance, product engineering and supply chain, to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the CEO and executive team.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic planning, product development, M&A, and revenue strategy, in the consumer goods industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and launching new products.
  • Strong understanding of the Amazon marketplace and e-commerce strategies.
  • Experience in conducting M&A due diligence and integrating acquired businesses.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
